Boundless enthusiasm, powerful emotions, ardent love…those are just a few of the phrases that Webster uses to define passion. That is the thought that comes to mind when you taste or even see one of the many delicacies passionately prepared by Priscilla Bailey Armstrong, owner, and baker of Sweet Blessings, Inc.
In October of 2003, Priscilla walked out of Lucent Technology in Norcross, Georgia for the last time. By her calculations, she had walked in and out 7800 times representing over thirty years of faithful service. She retired! So, after an exceptionally short vacation, she started her own business the very next day!
Priscilla started marketing her delicacies immediately. She and her oldest daughter, Kesia quickly formulated a plan turning her whole house into a bakery. Kesia worked as her assistant wearing every hat except baker; that is Priscilla’s job! While sitting in church, the following Sunday, the name Sweet Blessings came to her and she knew that’s the name she wanted. In doing so, she honors the memory of her mother, Gladys Bailey, the original cake baker.
Priscilla organized her business by meeting every requirement of the Rules and Regulations of the State of Georgia including acquiring the incorporation. She was ready to open for business! She and Kesia would hit the streets marketing their delicious treats every Friday and Saturday until their baskets were emptied. Two other daughters, Tonya and Stephanie, pitched in selling, cleaning, and organizing and even delivering. Of course it would not be a family business without the presence and help of grandchildren, Tori, Justin, and Chance!
Since October 2003, Priscilla has parlayed a part time passion into a full fledged viable business located at 4808 Flat Shoals Parkway in Decatur, Georgia. She purchased what was once another bakery located at the same address. In her present surroundings, she continues to deliver the delicious, sought after, mouth watering, homemade goodies her immense clientele craves and desires! People come from as far as 100 miles or more to purchase a “sweet blessing” from Priscilla who is affectionately or “confectionately” known as Ms. Sweet Blessings!
How befitting that Ms. Sweet Blessing would be named Priscilla, the sweet seller of purple (representing royalty) from the Bible! You owe it to yourself to check out Sweet Blessings, Inc. Tasting is believing these homemade goodies!
“Remember! There is sweetness in the blessings of the Lord!”
